Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have split after seven years together. The couple, who are parents to three-year-old twins Max and Emme, made the shocking announcement in a joint statement this afternoon. 'We have decided to end our marriage,' they said. 'This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.' 'It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.' The split comes as a surprise to fans given the pair's recent and quite public displays of affection. Lopez, 41, who this year joined American Idol as a judge, accompanied Anthony, 42, on stage while he performed during the show's finale on May 25, ending the racy performance with a passionate kiss. So what now? They must divide their assets unless a well crafted Prenup is in place. Who gets custody of the children? Is child support to be paid? If so, to or by whom? Too many questions and not enough answers at this stage in the break-up. Their joint statement infers they have amicably resolved all matters. If so BRAVO! That is a difficult feat when looking at the overall picture of wealth, star power and dealing with sharing custody of children. Wishing them luck and perhaps time to grow and mourn this marriage. Rebounds generally don’t work and I think statistics clearly show, in this case the odds are stacked against people who rush into second and third marriages.
