HALLE BARRY PLEDGES SUPPORT TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

According to recent reports on the net the actress will auction unique item to benefit victims of domestic violence. Hollywood centerpiece and Academy Award winner Halle Berry plans to auction off a one of a kind bracelet to benefit The Jenessee Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence. The Jenessee Center Founded in 1980, The Jenessee Center is the oldest domestic violence intervention program in South Los Angeles. With a stated mission of providing a comprehensive, centralized base of support for victims of domestic violence, the center was founded by five African-American women who were themselves survivors of domestic abuse. They offer education, health programs, case management and legal services, in addition to immediate help to those in a crisis situation. With a goal of removing misconceptions about domestic abuse and encouraging those in need of aid to come forward, the center aims to further their cause through education. Noting that domestic violence is a family issue, the group is focused on changing public opinion about abusers being viewed as victims and maintaining public services for those who would otherwise have nowhere else to go. The center offers emergency shelter houses for those who have left their batterers and can provide housing for women and their children for up to 30 days while they attempt to change the patterns of abuse in their lives. Hale Berry had high praise for the group. “The Jenessee Center is an organization that is very close to my heart,” she said in a recent interview. “Their work makes a tremendous difference in the lives of women and children and I am proud to support such a worthy cause by auctioning off this beautiful bracelet.” The Auction The item up for auction is a hand-carved rose gold, cuff bracelet designed by Gara Danielle. The bracelet was specifically designed for Berry to wear while shooting for her fragrance commercials in Oahu, Hawaii. Made from 14k gold that is plated over sterling silver, the adjustable bracelet can be seen in her print and video ads for her fragrance line. The bracelet is valued at over $4000.00 but is expected to fetch a much greater price at auction. To view the bracelet or to make a bid in the auction you can go to www.CharityBuzz.com.
